Loan Operations Analyst (Accounting and Reconciliation Focus)

Position Summary
We are seeking a Loan Accounting Analyst, also referred to as a Loan Accounting Analyst/Cash Reconciliation Analyst, with hands‑on experience in loan accounting within a banking, commercial real estate (CRE), capital markets, or mortgage environment.

This role is responsible for end‑to‑end accounting and reconciliation activities across loan portfolios and investor accounts, including tracking cash movements, conducting transaction‑level research, and resolving discrepancies in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of direct loan accounting experience or similar experience and a strong understanding of how loan transactions flow through accounting systems, including cash application, reconciliations, and the impacts on investor‑level reporting.

Location: Hybrid (St. Paul, MN – onsite 3 days a week, remote 2 days)

Essential Duties

Perform daily and monthly cash and account reconciliations across loan portfolios and investor accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Execute and validate cash posting/cash application activities, including tracking fund movements across multiple accounts.

Conduct transaction‑level research and break resolution, identifying root causes and resolving discrepancies independently.

Support loan accounting processes, including principal and interest activity, paydowns, and portfolio‑level cash balancing.

Partner with operations, servicing, and finance teams to resolve reconciling items and ensure proper accounting treatment.

Maintain documentation and support audit, SOX, and internal control requirements.

Identify process gaps and contribute to process improvements within reconciliation and cash management workflows.

Qualifications

3+ years of loan accounting experience within banking, commercial real estate (CRE), capital markets, or mortgage environments (required).

Hands‑on experience with:

Reconciliations (cash and/or account level)

Cash posting or cash management

Transaction research and discrepancy resolution

Strong understanding of loan lifecycle accounting and cash flow movement.

Experience working in high‑volume, transaction‑driven environments.

Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Skills and Job‑Specific Competencies

Experience with investor reporting or investor accounting.

Exposure to loan servicing or loan accounting systems (e.g., Loan IQ, AFS, or similar).

Background supporting CRE portfolios or structured finance/capital markets products.

Travel Requirements
No travel will be required, unless at the client's discretion.

Salary Range
$45 – $55 per hour.
