Assistant and Special Assistant Attorneys General represent the people of Rhode Island in civil and criminal matters before trial courts, appellate courts, and the supreme courts of Rhode Island and the United States.
Paralegals and administrative staff provide important support to the attorneys and to the Office. The Office is unique among attorneys general offices across the country. Out of fifty states, only two other offices share the same broad criminal mission. The Office’s attorneys prosecute complex and violent crimes but also functionally serve as one of the nation’s largest district attorney’s offices, prosecuting all felonies throughout the state.**Duties / Responsibilities**: The office is seeking a Human Resource Specialist who will play an integral role within the Office of Attorney General’s Administration team. Responsibilities include, by are not limited to:* Posting jobs in Workday and other online posting sites.* Downloading resumes, handling applicant communications, and organizing applicant paperwork.* Updating employment databases and processing employee requests.* Support onboarding activities including preparation of new hire paperwork and orientation materials.* Assist with the employee offboarding process, including coordination of exit procedures and documentation.* Organize and file employees’ personnel records and documentation.* Coordinate employee engagement activities and organizational drives.* Assist with security operations by managing employee identification badges, including issuance, tracking, and access control procedures.* Provide backup switchboard and reception desk support.Additionally, the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for the Office’s internship program. Internship duties include, but are not limited to:* Administer and coordinate the internship program in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling and ongoing participant support.* Serve as a liaison for universities and community partners for purposes of the internship program.* Attend career fairs and recruitment events to represent the Office, engage with potential candidates and promote internship opportunities.**Education/Experience/Special Requirements**: Applicant must possess superior organizational and time management skills, as well as the capacity to function at a high level in a demanding environment.
Additionally, applicants must exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with others, while having some knowledge of the state’s personnel functions. The individual must have a bachelor’s degree, plus two or more years relevant experience such as may have been gained through employment in a position involving the application of personnel management, or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
