Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a
Water/Wastewater Utility Technician
for our Bossier City, LA office to assist with operations & maintenance of water and wastewater systems. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of clean water to the community and the proper treatment and disposal of wastewater.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
In this role, which is approximately 75 percent field-based and 25 percent office-based, you will be responsible for collecting chlorine samples, monitoring and adjusting chemical feed rates, reading meters, and supporting the operation and maintenance of lift stations. You will conduct DEQ-required discharge sampling, perform daily site visits to assess sewer and water plant conditions, complete quarterly nitrification sampling, and collect monthly LDH-required water samples. You will also utilize SCADA systems along with Office 360 applications, including Excel, to track data, monitor system performance, and support reporting requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure that the water and wastewater systems comply with environmental laws and regulations, including safe drinking water standards and wastewater discharge requirements
Prepare for and manage inspections from regulatory bodies
Stay updated on changes in regulations and ensure the utility adapts accordingly
Infrastructure Support
Perform the maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure (pipes, pumps, valves, treatment facilities, etc.)
Oversee system inspections & emergency repairs.
Public Relations
Provide communication to the manager regarding emergency situations
Assist with response to complaints and issues from the public, working to resolve concerns
Emergency Response
Ensure the utility is prepared for emergencies and that systems can be quickly restored
Data Analysis and Reporting
Review data from water and wastewater systems to monitor performance, efficiency, and compliance
Prepare regular reports for management
Sustainability and Innovation
Develop and implement sustainable practices, such as water conservation, energy-efficient technologies, and waste recycling
Stay informed about new technologies and methodologies to improve utility operations and sustainability
What you'll need
Hands‑on experience with water treatment and wastewater processes, & regulatory compliance
Water/Wastewater certification (Level II Certification preferred)
Leadership experience and a 'Team Player' mindset
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Knowledge of environmental regulations and local, state, and federal laws
Excellent communication skills for interacting with management
Travel to multiple water / wastewater facilities based on client / project need
Weekend & Holiday work may be required based on client / project need
