Job Description
The job of Educational Assistant - Alternative Placement Setting is to improve students' success in the basic academics; monitor students in a variety of settings; and relieve teachers of clerical tasks.
Essential Functions
Administers tests
Confers with teachers and/or parents as may be required
Implements instructional programs and lesson plans, (e.g. reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer, etc.)
Instructs students (individual or small groups) (e.g. reading, math, spelling, self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.)
Maintains classroom equipment, work area, students' files/records (e.g. clean up after various class projects, entering grades, adapting instructional materials, audiovisual equipment, etc.)
Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, cafeteria, labs, field trips, etc.)
Participates in in-service workshops and training
Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, instructional materials, correcting papers, compiling lists, etc.)
Picks up and/or delivers homework/assignments to students at home
Responds to emergency situations, (e.g. injured student, fights, etc.)
Supervises students performing school beautification
Assists other personnel as may be required
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Pre-employment proficiency test
Criminal Justice/fingerprint clearance
Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
Experience desired.
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
