Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
Provide one‑on‑one or small‐group support to students with diverse needs.
Encourage student engagement and participation in classroom activities.
Special Education Support
Work with students with special needs, providing assistance with tasks related to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Implement behavior management plans and interventions as directed.
Assist in adapting materials and instructional strategies for individual students.
Student Supervision
Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
Ensure the safety and well‑being of students by addressing any safety concerns.
Help students with daily routines.
Behavior Management
Implement behavior management strategies in line with classroom and school guidelines.
Help de‑escalate conflicts and address challenging behaviors.
Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Administrative Tasks
Assist in maintaining records of student attendance and progress.
Help with clerical tasks, such as photocopying, organizing materials, and record‑keeping.
Collaborate with regular staff to support the smooth operation of the classroom.
Communication
Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff.
Report concerns or incidents to the classroom teacher or school administration.
Maintain open and supportive communication with parents or guardians.
Adaptability
Be prepared to work in various classrooms and settings, adapting to the needs of different students and teachers.
Follow the instructions and guidelines provided by the classroom teacher or school staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with students.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow instructions and adapt to various classroom environments.
Hold an educational aide license with the Ohio Department of Education.
Maintain a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
