Position Summary
This position is responsible for directing the work activities and overseeing all manufacturing through shipping processes within the organization. It establishes and ensures the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost (SQDIC) goals are met, supervises staff, schedules machines and people, oversees Continuous Improvement (CI) activities with the Engineering team, enforces compliance with safety rules, regulations and company policies, and works closely with cross‑functional leaders to maintain a high‑quality, team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

Direct the work activities of employees and oversee the manufacturing processes, ensuring the SQDIC goals are consistently met.

Supervise staff and oversee workforce planning, selection, work planning and direction, coaching, training, and performance management.

Ensure machines are scheduled appropriately to maximize efficiencies and profitability.

Conduct capacity analysis to determine future demand needs and recommend capacity expansion.

Write capital expenditures for equipment needed for capacity or replacement, including the capex form and PowerPoint presentations.

Determine and oversee all CI activities for the department, ensuring LEAN principles improve performance of work cells.

Enforce compliance with safety rules and regulations, take prompt corrective action for hazards, ensure required training is completed, and participate in monthly safety meetings.

Enforce all company policies and procedures and complete administrative tasks related to people and manufacturing processes.

Maintain proper inventory levels of tooling and parts and ensure all manufacturing equipment and material handling equipment are adequately maintained through coordination with Maintenance.

Develop and manage the department budget, recommend capital equipment purchases, and participate in facilities planning to meet capacity needs.

Ensure conformance with local, state and federal codes, procure and keep up to date required licenses, inspection certificates, and review insurance.

Provide leadership at the plant level in support of the Apprenticeship Program, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations or related field with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, including at least one year supervising staff and overseeing multiple functions.

Minimum eight years of relevant experience without a Bachelor’s degree, including at least two years supervising staff and overseeing multiple functions.

Experience leading and implementing LEAN manufacturing initiatives.

Broad knowledge of machining practices and manufacturing processes.

Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team facilitation, structured problem‑solving, and conflict management.

Experience optimizing processes and achieving ongoing cost reductions.

Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.

Experience working within an ISO environment.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and experience with precision machining and assembly of complex critical components and processes.

Experience with ISO 13485 and/or FDA 21CFR820.

Implement preventive actions to reduce environmental footprint and control health and safety risks.

Participate in analyses of risks and incidents and HSE working groups as requested.

Support HSE implementation and objectives.

Ensure compliance with HSE procedures, instructions, guidelines and golden rules.

Ensure acquisition and maintenance of HSE skills for employees related to their tasks.

Ensure equipment under responsibility is in good condition and operates without risk, initiating protective measures or consignment if necessary.

Lead the implementation of a crisis unit if necessary.

Ensure availability of necessary resources to guarantee health, safety and environmental protection for people on the site.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer.

Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly.

Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 40 lbs occasionally and >20 lbs frequently.

Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards.

Travel by air or car frequently.

Compensation and Benefits Overview
Starting Pay Range for this position is $120,000–$140,000 annually. The position is eligible to participate in the company’s bonus program. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with applicable county or city regulations if they exceed the listed range. Actual pay rates are determined based on market conditions, experience, education, certifications, language proficiency, and other job‑specific qualifications.
