Middle Tennessee State University has an opening for an Athletic Communications & Creative Content Assistant internship position.

Job Summary
This Athletic Communications & Creative Content Assistant will assist in the coverage of all 17 MTSU athletic programs, including serving as the primary contact for Blue Raider Cross Country and Track & Field.

Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to: social media management for assigned sports, graphic design, video and photo production, live content capture at events, upkeep of record books and historical archives, website maintenance, writing press releases and feature stories, and assisting with game-day media operations. This position will work closely with the Associate Director for Athletic Communications and Athletic Communications Assistant Directors.

Additional responsibilities may include assisting with content planning, in-game/statistical support, postgame coverage, and developing creative storytelling content across multiple digital platforms.

Start Date
The selected candidate would ideally start in early July.

Applicants with a strong background in Adobe Creative Suite and experience with camera equipment will be given top preference.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, sports management, or a related field

Previous experience as a student worker, graduate assistant, or intern in athletic communications, sports information, or a related role

Knowledge of social media platforms with the ability to develop and execute a content strategy and posting schedule

Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro preferred)

Ability to assist with photography, video capture, video editing, and graphic design creation

Strong writing and editing skills with a working knowledge of AP Style

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and travel as needed for athletic events

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience managing a team or brand social media account

Previous experience as a primary or secondary contact for a collegiate sport

Experience in live event coverage (social, photo, or video)

Familiarity with website management systems (Sidearm Sports or similar platforms)

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple sports and deadlines simultaneously

Creative mindset with the ability to generate original content ideas and storytelling concepts
