Summary
A BVSD teacher demonstrates strong knowledge of curriculum and content area while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effective classroom management.
Responsibilities
Planning and Preparation: facilitate learning experiences, teach course of study as outlined by the district curriculum, use innovative strategies to meet individual needs, and design an engaging, age‑appropriate course consistent with district model and state guidelines.
Assessment: use a data‑driven instruction model to improve student learning, assess proficiency, differentiate assessments, provide timely feedback, and plan instruction based on results.
Learning Environment: create a safe, inclusive, respectful classroom, implement procedures that maximize learning, respond to misconduct with restorative practices, and communicate with parents/guardians.
Equity: support a culture of equity and inclusion, address barriers that contribute to disproportional outcomes for underrepresented students.
Parent/Family Connections: build relationships with families, encourage involvement, provide clear feedback, collaborate with families, and maintain two‑way communication.
Continuous Learning: engage in professional growth, set goals, reflect, and develop new strategies.
Collaboration: discuss student learning with colleagues, work with special education and other teachers to provide inclusion or extension opportunities.
Ethics: act professionally in conduct and decision‑making, placing children at the center of education.
Safety: supervise students in all school settings and enforce district safety standards.
Follow all state legal requirements, negotiated agreements, and district policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Current Colorado teaching license in Secondary Education.
Complete and submit a BVSD online application.
Earn a READ Act Designation if the role requires literacy instruction.
Preferred:
Deep belief in inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, including those on IEPs or learning English.
Salary Information
Hourly pay rate $47.11 per hour. Pay range is based on experience and education. BVSD uses a salary placement process, not negotiation, to determine compensation for newly hired employees.
