Pay Rate:
$27.45/hour
Responsibilities
Execute secondary structure welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing.
Operate all welding machines including GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welders.
Knowledge of material properties, methods and basic set‑up, verification, adjustment, operation of welding equipment and hand tools (grinding and cutting).
Read blueprints or work instructions, set‑up jigs and fixtures, comprehend associated welding symbols and welding sequence.
Use a variety of hand and power tools safely.
Work safely in compliance with Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
Learn to weld different types of materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel) and pass applicable welder evaluation Entry Level tests.
Communicate with Supervision, Level A welders, Engineering Department and Quality Department regarding design or material changes.
Adaptability – accept different work assignments and maintain a clean working environment.
Listen, learn, and comprehend from experienced welders to meet company and customer requirements.
Assist in new process development and troubleshoot products.
Utilize digital technology in day-to-day duties.
Possess or obtain external certifications AWS/ANST or equivalent.
Inspect arc or spot welded weldments per acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements to ensure conformance with specification.
Have acceptable hand‑eye coordination and pass visual acuity test.
Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma, 2‑year vocational degree or equivalent welding certificate with experience.
Experience:
Less than 2 years.
Technical competencies & Behaviour
Automatic or hand‑operated welding equipment.
Welding processes & machines: GMAW / GTAW.
Blueprint reading.
Weld symbols.
Hand/power tools.
Adaptability.
Customer focus.
Accepts feedback and applies it.
Offers feedback to leadership.
Cascades given feedback to other team members.
Fabrication and application of jigs/mechanical principles and experience.
Follow instructions and order of operations with strong attention to detail.
