Guest Services Associate
Location:

Hourly Rate:
$18.00 per hour
This is a part‑time position (up to 19 hours per week) that will continue through 31 August 2026. The work schedule varies with business needs; evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required, especially during peak seasons and special events.
Responsibilities
Welcome guests in a professional, friendly, and positive manner.
Sell general admission tickets, explaining ticket prices and discount programs.
Answer questions about the Center, current exhibits, classes, projects, and programs.
Handle payments for programs, classes, school groups, tours, and special events through the website, in person, or by phone; address inquiries and refer complex questions to appropriate staff.
Inform guests about the benefits of a Wildflower Center membership, complete and submit membership forms, and create an Altru constituent record.
Maintain familiarity with the Altru database, report software issues, review constituent records for accuracy, and assist in correcting records per UT standards.
Keep the work environment organized and clean.
Assist with program operations, including maintaining first aid kits, kiosk cleanliness, and reporting issues to the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school graduation or GED and experience in a customer‑service‑related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience multitasking responsibilities in a high‑traffic area.
Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
Knowledge of computer systems and ability to learn new software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required during peak seasons and special events.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience on a cash register or point‑of‑sale (POS) equipment.
Experience in a box office setting with ticketing or POS system, preferably Altru.
Museum or public garden experience.
General knowledge of the outdoors, native plants, the Wildflower Center, Austin, and UT.
Working Conditions
Work mainly within a ticket booth and at standing stations outside the booth.
May involve repetitive keyboard use and standing for extended periods.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
Evening and weekend work will be required for events.
Background Checks
A criminal history background check will be required for finalists under consideration for this position.
