Social Worker - Spine Program

The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the diverse needs of our patient population. Social workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients at both micro and macro levels, including direct care and prevention. This position is integral to the Spine Program, providing psychosocial counseling and discharge planning for orthopedic neurosurgery spine patients throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include pre‑operative outreach and counseling to spine patients and possibly other orthopedic patients. Knowledge of crisis, family, and systems theories is utilized in an interdisciplinary setting. The role focuses on program development and patient satisfaction, teamwork, committee meetings, and broader participation beyond floor assignment. Coverage includes med/surg specialty.

Qualifications

NYS LMSW or LCSW.

Excellent psychosocial assessment and engagement skills.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safe, appropriate, and timely discharge plans in a demanding, fast‑paced environment.

Exceptional collaborative and communication skills.

Excellent clinical, organizational, and management skills.

Minimum one year in current position unless a Cardiac/Surgery float.

Non‑Bargaining Unit, 186 - Social Services - MSH, Mount Sinai Hospital.

Compensation
Salary range: $88,691.20 - $101,670.78 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need.
