POSITION SUMMARY

TheManager, Pharmacy Buyeroversees the work of the pharmacy buyer team to manage the entire procurement process for all acute care Ardent facilities and associated HOPDs. Responsibilities include providing direction and oversight ofday to dayactivities, filling in for buyers when necessary to ensure continuity of supplies and medication to facilities, attending leadership and other meetings and serving as a point person to communicate to local leadership and the corporate pharmacy team. Supervisor responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, disciplinary action, goal setting and evaluation for the team.

Responsibilities

Serves as a communication liaison between corporate pharmacy leadership, market pharmacy leadership and local pharmacy leadership.
Supports orientation for new hire centralized buyers; assist in the training and competency for employed staff and maintaining records of those completed competencies
Monitors purchasing for non-formulary and non-contract spend (including direct and 503B) and addresses with team and corporate pharmacy leadership as needed.
Facilitates collaboration between buyers around shortages and recalls and supports interfacility transfer of products to ensure adequate distribution of limited resources
Develops and assists in the development of policies and procedures for supply and medication procurement for pharmacy departments in acute care facilities and HOPDs.
Coordinates daily activities, facility assignments, and drug class assignments to members of the centralized buying team.
Serves as a centralized buyer during vacations, holidays, call-outs as needed to ensure continuity of delivery of needed medication and supplies.
Understands and maintain the standards set by the Drug Supply Chain and Security Act (DSCSA)
Meets with representatives of 503Bs, vendors and GPO as needed.
Facilitates oversight of ordering of controlled substances in compliance with federal and state law and retain and share with local leadership any necessary documentation.
Assists the pharmacy leadership in preparation for pharmacy inventory bi-annually.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:
High School Diploma
3+ years previous hospital or specialty pharmacy technician experience (inclusive of training programs.
3+ years Purchasing experience.
Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by state of employment.

Preferred Job Requirements:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
National Pharmacy Certification (CPhT).
6 months leadership experience.
