Summary:

Maintains resort lawn and grounds by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities

Provides excellent guest service.

Cuts lawns, trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls.

Prunes shrubs and trees to share and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs.

Sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides.

Is self-motivated and works well independently.

Cleans grounds and removes litter.

Shovels snow from walks and driveways.

Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs as directed by the general manager.

Waters lawn and shrubs.

Repairs fences, gates, walls and walks.

Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools and shears.

Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader and snow- removal equipment.

May be assigned other duties, sometimes in other departments, as the need arises to support fellow staff members in achieving the company mission.

Education/Experience Preferred

Prior experience and/or training are desirable but not required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out simple instructions.

Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing abilities and visual acuity.

Talking and hearing occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other associates.

Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

Required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment
Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
