Essential Job Functions
Perform applicable job functions of a Classroom Teacher.
Initiate/participate in categorical eligibility meetings as an expert in a category of IDEA-BPL 101-746.
Ensure each child has a current IEP with required signatures.
Monitor the implementation of IEPs.
Review and write IEPs on an annual basis.
Create and maintain a working special education file in a locked cabinet containing student assessments, current IEPs, psychological evaluations, and pertinent medical information.
Provide building principal with advice on special education issues.
Provide staff with in-service sessions each year as required by district policies and state/federal regulations.
Collaborate, consult, schedule, and instruct regular education staff regarding classroom inclusion, intervention, and/or modification techniques.
Provide for the physical, social, and educational needs of the students.
Inform appropriate staff of necessary medical and other information.
Assist the student in taking prescribed medication(s).
Lift and/or move non-ambulatory students.
Devise diapering and toileting procedures for students age three to adult.
Adapt foods and assist in feeding students.
Display a professional appearance appropriate to teaching the assignment.
Display well-rounded knowledge and understanding of multicultural issues.
Perform teaching and reporting requirements identified as part of state and federally funded programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge
English Language:
Knowledge of structure and content of English, including definition and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Mathematics:
Knowledge of arithmetic and basic computations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Customer and Personal Services:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including assessment and quality standards.

Communication Skills:
Demonstrate effective communication, give and receive instructions, respond to inquiries, complete forms, prepare correspondence; legible writing, grammatical knowledge.
