Overview
The teacher ensures that all students learn the basic and essential skills at each grade level or subject area while maintaining morals and standards of character that are positive examples for all students and reflect positively on Lincoln Charter School.
Responsibilities
Instructional Process
Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the school’s philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans which provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students.
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
Maintains Ed‑line requirements, prepares interim reports, report cards and other documents as required.
Prepares substitute folder containing appropriate information as requested by the Chief Administrator, Principal, or Site Administrator.
Stays current in subject matter knowledge and shares this knowledge for continual improvement of the school’s curriculum.
Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
Curriculum Development
Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school’s curriculum.
Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
Classroom Management
Develops developmentally appropriate rules for classroom behavior and appropriate discipline techniques consistently applied.
Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Shares responsibility during the school day for supervision of students in all areas of the school.
Public Relations
Upholds and enforces board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations and is supportive of them to the public.
Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other staff.
Uses the school‑assigned computer and e‑mail account for appropriate professional actions.
Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, state and federal laws.
Professional Growth
Continued professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
Cooperates with the administration in planning appropriate in‑service training programs.
Attends staff, department, and committee meetings as required.
Adheres to timelines, due dates and reporting requirements.
Individual Requirements
Be a master of content.
Believe in the importance of college preparation.
Seek continuous growth and improvement.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core.
Strong background in literacy and reading foundations preferred.
Valid NC teaching license required (or out of state license with reciprocity).
Terms of Employment
Full‑time, 10‑month employee; full health and 401(k) benefits.
FLSA status: exempt.
