Histotechnician / Lab Assistant (Hybrid Clinical Role)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and team-focused Histotechnician / Lab Assistant to join our growing practice. This hybrid role is responsible not only for accurate and efficient processing of dermatologic tissue specimens, but also for actively supporting clinic operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both laboratory work and hands‑on involvement in a fast‑paced, patient‑centered clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities

Process dermatologic tissue specimens, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation for microscopic evaluation
Prepare, label, and manage specimens, reagents, and laboratory documentation in accordance with CLIA and safety guidelines
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control and compliance with safety standards
Accession cases, maintain logs, and support accurate recordkeeping and reporting
Monitor inventory and order laboratory supplies as needed
Clinic & Operational Support (Key Emphasis)

Perform room turnovers to ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care
Handle instrument processing and sterilization in accordance with clinical protocols
Manage laundry duties to support daily clinic flow
Order and maintain inventory of both clinic and laboratory supplies
Assist team members as needed to support a smooth and efficient patient experience
Education and/or Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or related field preferred.
Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by the ASCP is preferred.
Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology is highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Ability to work independently during part‑time hours while maintaining collaboration with clinical team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
