Position Overview
Notre Dame Catholic School's 2nd Grade Teacher will support faith-based student learning.
Supporting the formation of each child in accordance with the educational mission of the Roman Catholic Church
Educating and guiding each student in the Catholic religion in accordance with the standards and mission of the Diocese of Gary and the Roman Catholic Church
Engaging students in the mission while providing support and accountability
Working with the parish community to ensure mission viability and vitality
Supporting parents in the development of their children
Ensuring a safe and secure learning environment
Acquiring and implementing resources and providing support for faith-based youth development
Addressing identified student learning needs in collaboration with the parents and other ND staff
Qualifications
Commitment to the mission of Catholic education; ability to articulate a vision of faith-based student learning within a parish Catholic school community; ability to engage students in the mission
Post‑secondary degree from an accredited institution
Possess or be in the process of obtaining appropriate certification(s)/license(s) from the State of Indiana
Relevant coursework and experience
Relevant teaching and/or student‑teaching experience
In addition, knowledge of the following will be necessary
Teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, especially as they pertain to elementary education
Developmentally appropriate faith‑formation and educational practices
Adult Education (Professional Development)
Supporting students with special needs (Special Education)
State of Indiana Academic Standards
Completion of appropriate criminal background checks & VIRTUS safe environment training
