The
Tech Ops Supervisor – Coax
oversees daily scheduling, performance, and quality of coaxial splicing operations. This role provides technical leadership to coax technicians and foremen, ensures production standards are met, supports training and development, and serves as an escalation resource for complex RF/coax issues. The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on field experience paired with proven supervisory and organizational skills.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate daily work schedules and activities for coax splicing technicians
Supervise and support foremen and field technicians to ensure quality, safety, and productivity standards are met
Provide hands‑on technical support for complex RF/coax splicing and plant issues
Review, approve, and track production reports, timesheets, and related documentation
Monitor job quality and perform audits to ensure compliance with company and customer standards
Assist with training, mentoring, and development of new hire and lower‑tier technicians
Develop and improve workflow, processes, and performance standards
Participate in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new technicians
Maintain inventory and condition of test equipment, tools, and materials
Communicate effectively with customer project managers, city personnel, and internal teams
Create and maintain job documentation, including as‑builts and splice documentation as required
Resolve scheduling conflicts and field issues efficiently and professionally
Identify and develop future technical leaders within the team
Required Qualifications
Minimum
3–4 years of proven coax/RF field experience , including splicing and troubleshooting
Demonstrated leadership experience (Supervisor, Foreman, or Lead role)
Strong working knowledge of
RF theory, coaxial plant design, and splicing documentation
Proficient in reading splice prints, system design maps, and construction drawings
Working knowledge of
electrical theory
Familiarity with utility locating laws (e.g., Blue Stake)
Strong organizational, analytical, and decision‑making skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Computer proficiency required:
MS Excel, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat
(database experience a plus)
Comfortable working at heights up to 50′ using bucket trucks or man lifts
Certifications
ETA Fiber Certification
(or ability to complete within 90 days of hire)
Preferred Skills
Experience coordinating crews and delegating work assignments
Background in both
RF/coax and fiber environments
(fiber experience a plus)
Strong interpersonal skills with a mentorship mindset
Proven ability to drive performance improvements and quality outcomes
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Field‑based role with regular exposure to outdoor environments
Ability to lift, climb, and work at elevated heights
May require extended hours based on project demands
