Position Summary
The School Nutrition Specialist/Tech Liaison is responsible for ensuring that the school nutrition program complies with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves developing and delivering training programs for school nutrition staff, monitoring compliance with nutritional guidelines, and implementing corrective actions when necessary. The specialist works closely with school administrators, school-based nutrition personnel, and other stakeholders to promote healthy eating habits among students.
Required Qualifications
High school/GED.
Hold a ServSafe Certificate.
Three years of nutrition experience or related field.
Experience in training and staff development.
Experience with federal, state, and local regulations governing school nutrition programs.
Experience in using computer software for data analysis, reporting, and training development.
Experience working with a diverse group of people.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field.
Experience with Mosaic Software.
Duties and Responsibilities
Travels between all schools/sites within the district, as needed.
Develops, organizes, and delivers training sessions for school nutrition staff on topics such as food safety, nutritional standards, and regulatory compliance.
Creates educational materials and resources to support staff training and development.
Stays updated with current best practices in school nutrition and incorporates them into training programs.
Conducts regular audits and inspections of school cafeterias to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Interprets and implements federal, state, and local regulations related to school nutrition programs.
Develops and updates policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
Communicates regulatory changes and updates to school nutrition staff and administrators.
Maintains accurate records of training sessions, compliance audits, and corrective actions.
Prepares and submits required reports to regulatory agencies and school administration.
Develops and maintains documentation for all school nutrition programs and activities.
Provides guidance and support to school nutrition staff on issues related to food safety, menu planning, and nutritional standards.
Serves as a collaborative team member for school nutrition staff, school administrators, parents, and community members on school nutrition policies and programs.
Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and compliance measures, and makes improvements as needed.
Identifies opportunities for enhancing the nutritional quality and appeal of school meals.
Promotes innovative approaches to nutrition education and healthy eating initiatives within schools.
Coordinates employee training and support activities for all computerized operations.
Performs all school-level computerized accountability systems.
Serves as liaison between software vendors and the school system’s data processing departments.
Maintains, backs up, and transfers software files in accordance with prescribed system policies and procedures.
Installs and tests hardware and software on the school site computer.
Tests wiring and lines used for P.O.S.
Visits and works with employees on site to provide technical support, hardware, and software repairs and maintenance.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the School Nutrition Director as necessary.

Process appropriate paperwork to authorize absences in accordance with school system procedures. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate manner and to be conscientious about work performance.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually by the School Nutrition Director or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel.
