Your role and responsibilities
The IBM Z Client Architect for Technical Sales plays a pivotal role in translating business strategy into technical execution across the z platform. This role operates at the intersection of client engagement, solution architecture, and revenue generation, partnering closely with sales leaders, brand specialists, and technical teams to shape and progress high-value opportunities. The architect is responsible for developing and articulating a compelling technical point of view that aligns IBM Z capabilities with client priorities such as modernization, hybrid cloud integration, AI adoption, and operational resilience.
Acting as a trusted advisor, the z Architect leads technical discovery, drives solution design, and ensures architectural integrity from early qualification through deal closure. This includes positioning the full zStack, integrating hardware and software strategies, and orchestrating the right technical resources to deliver measurable client value. Success in this role requires strong consultative skills, the ability to connect business outcomes to technical solutions, and disciplined execution within the sales process to accelerate pipeline progression and win rates.
Required technical and professional expertise
zStack Solution Design: Experience with designing comprehensive solutions utilizing the zStack, focusing on IBM Z Software and Hardware, to meet client needs and drive business outcomes.
IBM Z Deployment: Experience in deploying solutions, ensuring seamless integration and effective implementation of IBM Z Software and Hardware.
zStack Technical Expertise: Experience with applying in-depth knowledge of the zStack to develop and implement innovative solutions that address complex client challenges.
End-to-End Architecture: Experience in architecting end-to-end solutions, leveraging the zStack to meet client requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions.
IBM Z Software and Hardware: Experience working with IBM Z Software and Hardware, including solution design, deployment, and implementation.
Preferred technical and professional experience
zStack Optimization Techniques: Experience with optimizing zStack solutions for improved performance and efficiency, including leveraging advanced features and best practices to drive business outcomes.
Advanced IBM Z Integration: Experience in integrating IBM Z Software and Hardware with other systems and technologies to create comprehensive solutions that meet complex client needs.
Cloud and Hybrid Deployments: Experience with deploying zStack solutions in cloud and hybrid environments, ensuring seamless integration and effective implementation of IBM Z Software and Hardware.
