Job Overview
Cable Installer – Mid/Senior: This individual will be responsible for conducting cable infrastructure surveys and installations at US Embassies and Consulates overseas while participating in the installation of voice and WiFi site deployments. Subcontractor must provide staff at the times dictated by the Prime implementation manager. Staff must have a Top-Secret Clearance.
Location: OCONUS (Various Locations)
Employment: 10-99 or FTE available
Pay: $27 - $44 per hour DOE
Must be capable of lifting 60 lbs and climbing ladders. Travel to OCONUS locations and deliver infrastructure deployment/upgrade support. Must provide accurate reports against LOM inventory tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Installs telephone, coaxial, and fiber optic cables, including vertical and horizontal cable pairs to the desktop
Locates and diagnoses signal transmission defects using various test equipment and visual inspection
Uses tools and related test equipment, ground power equipment, and pressure equipment
Prepares necessary reports and communicates effectively with technical and management personnel
Oversees infrastructure deployment teams and assists installation of telephone, coaxial, and fiber optic cables, including vertical and horizontal cable pairs to the desktop
Executes inventories against Ship Documents
Unloads/movements of materials and equipment across a job site
Performs installation of equipment/cables, system testing and evaluation activities
Inspects and reviews hardware installation, wiring, power, grounding, system database validation, and other activities to ensure quality installation of services
Performs de-installation and relocation activities including, but not limited to, site preparation and installation and/or removal of cabling and wiring systems, terminal equipment, automated data processing services, hardware and software
Provides detailed post installation infrastructure diagrams and reports
Displays knowledge of Excel and Word
Required Skills, Certification, Experience, and Education
Individual should have experience with installation of network cabling infrastructure and leadership of small teams. CAT5e, CAT6, fiber cables and termination. Fusion splicer and Unicam kits.
