Purpose of the role

MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Operations Supervisor will control aircraft maintenance operations, managing Crew Chiefs, Production Controllers and their teams to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality work. The Operations Supervisor will be accountable for aircraft span time, manage planned vs. applied hours, aircraft budgets, plan shift schedules for adequate coverage, oversee disciplinary actions, and enforce safety and quality standards. The Operations Supervisor will notify the Operation Managers immediately of any issues that will affect safety, quality, or productivity. They coordinate with Production Controllers to align resources and schedules, driving operational efficiency and compliance with standards while facilitating cross-role collaboration and resolving operational challenges.
Here are the daily responsibilities of an Operations Supervisor:

Supervise multiple crew chiefs and production controllers for the assigned aircraft
Responsible for the daily and overall operations of the aircraft maintenance department – to include safety, schedules, personnel, training, and quality
Encourage and promote a safe work environment by supervising a safety/security program including operation of support equipment, aircraft systems, KPA, general housekeeping, and lean manufacturing
Supervise the performance of maintenance and ensure work is performed in accordance with Repair Station/Quality Manual, Site Operating Procedures, and FARs.
Oversee and manage resources to maximize productivity and minimize DCI
Perform supervisory responsibilities for assigned employees and area(s) for but not limited to:

Conduct team meetings
Timekeeping: ensure employee hours are accurate, track attendance
Approve timecards, employee leave and vacation requests
Performance management program and 30/60/90-day reviews, T-003 update
Coach Crew Chiefs and Production Controllers on leadership and technical skills.
Conduct performance evaluations, training, or disciplinary actions.
Participate in interview processes and recommend hiring decisions
Monitor housing and facilities for compliance with 14 CFR 145.103 and report any insufficiency
Identify and communicate best practices & champion continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with customer aircraft invoicing

Monitor daily aircraft maintenance progress against Production Controller schedules ensuring workflow/plan is followed; priorities are supported/staffed accordingly at all times.
Resolve staffing or operational bottlenecks reported by Production Controllers or Crew Chiefs, escalating to the Operations Manager if needed with a documented plan.
Responsible for coordinating unscheduled aircraft maintenance and work performed at a location other than the Repair Station’s fixed location.
Use EmpowerMX to track progress and generate reports for management.
Administer team related policies and procedures (AES Daily Meetings with Crew Chiefs)
Daily, prior to start of shift, coordinates manpower with Production Controllers based on aircraft priorities.
Labor adjustments and monitoring each shift and corrections for individuals time reporting when required.
Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Investigations and root cause analysis and improvements.
Here is what is required to succeed:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing heavy industrial maintenance AND;
Minimum of two (2) years heavy industrial lead (aka “Crew Chief”) experience – preferably within aircraft maintenance.
Must have an Airframe (“A”) license.

Powerplant (“P”) license on its own cannot be substituted for a required A license.

Working knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, for example: part 91, 121, 135, and 145.
Proficiency with computerized aircraft maintenance documentation systems.
Ability to read and write in English per customer and FAA maintenance documentation compliance.
Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance inspection programs for jet aircraft.
Working knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety rules and regulations as they apply to workplace, safety and environmental aspects of aircraft maintenance operations.
Customer service mindset and approach within communications (verbal & written) and when needing to diffuse situations between internal and external customers.
Intermediate computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based applications used to manage maintenance work.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in aviation, Engineering or related technical industrial field - Preferred.
Working knowledge if ISO/OHSAS management system and resources - Preferred.
