Position Summary
The Buyer II is responsible for executing procurement activities in support of both U.S. Government and commercial (non‑government) business at Ohio Ordnance Works. This role follows existing standards to source, purchase, and manage materials, components, and outside services required to support manufacturing, production schedules, and contractual requirements.
The Buyer II ensures timely material availability, cost control, supplier performance, and compliance with applicable federal, and industry regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting regulated government programs while also maintaining efficient and responsive procurement for commercial products and internal operations.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Material Management
Execute procurement of raw materials, machined components, assemblies, and outside services for government and non‑government programs
Review bills of material (BOMs), drawings, work orders, technical data packages (TDPs), statements of work (SOWs), and contract requirements to ensure purchasing alignment
Verify pricing, delivery dates, specifications, and contractual terms prior to purchase order release
Expedite critical and long‑lead items to prevent production delays
Support dual‑source and alternate‑source strategies where applicable
Act as the primary liaison between OOW and assigned suppliers
Identify, evaluate, andmaintaina qualified supplier base capable of supporting both regulated and commercial requirements
Communicate quality, compliance, delivery, and documentation expectations to suppliers
Monitor supplier performance and address delivery delays, nonconformances, and cost issues
Support supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in supplier onboarding, approval, or disqualification in alignment with company requirements
Government & Regulatory Compliance
FAR and DFARS flow‑down clauses on applicable government purchase orders
ITAR and export control regulations
ATF regulations and firearms‑related controls
CMMC Requirements
ERP & Transaction Management
Create, manage, and close purchase orders within the ERP system (JobBOSS)
Track order status, receipts, discrepancies, and invoice issues
Maintainaccuratesupplier, pricing, and lead‑time data
Support cost tracking, spend visibility, and reporting for assigned programs
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Coordinate daily with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Inventory, and Management
Support new program launches, engineering changes, and production transitions
Communicate material risks, shortages, and delivery impacts to managementin a timely manner
Qualifications
Required
3–6 years ofpurchasingor procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
ERP/MRP system experience (JobBOSSpreferred)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Associate degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or related field
Experience supporting regulated or government‑driven procurement
Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and contract flow‑down requirements
Understanding of ITAR, export controls, and firearms‑related regulations
Experience with DoD, federal, defense, aerospace, or precision manufacturing
Familiarity with CMMC, NIST, or other compliance frameworks
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and material specifications
Primarily office‑based within a shared purchasing workspace
Extended periods of desk work, computer use, and phone/email communication
Occasional access to production, receiving, or inspection areas
Adherence to company safety policies and PPE requirements when entering manufacturing areas
Compensation
The pay range for this role is:
60,000 - 70,000 USD per year (Chardon OH Loc)
