Job Description
Waltham Public Schools is seeking dynamic Special Educators for our ESY program to support students in Moderate Disabilities classrooms and specialized Tutoring sessions at all levels. This role is designed for students who require targeted academic maintenance in a less restrictive environment than our sub-separate programs. Applicants must hold a valid license in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities). A strong preference for tutoring positions will be given to candidates who possess certification or experience in phonetic-based reading interventions, such as Wilson or Orton-Gillingham, to support intensive literacy maintenance.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver specialized instruction in reading, written expression, and mathematics through small‑group classroom settings and 1:1 or small‑group tutoring blocks.
Review student IEPs and deliver all mandated services and accommodations with fidelity; maintain accurate data logs for all IEP benchmarks.
Manage classroom logistics, coordinate student transitions during bus or van duties, and maintain consistent communication with parents.
Drafter participation summary reports for each student on the caseload.

Dates:
July 6 – August 6 (Monday – Thursday)
Student Hours:
8:30 am – 1:30 pm (Stanley Elementary) or 9:00 am – 2:00 pm (Kennedy Middle School)
Teacher On‑Campus Hours:
15 minutes before and after student hours plus one hour of daily planning.
Compensation:
$40.00 per hour | Total Stipend: $5,600.00 (inclusive of 20 session days and 10 hours of dedicated pre‑ and post‑program administrative work)
