River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies; River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products from warehouses in Syracuse, NY.

Position Summary
The Talent Acquisition Manager is responsible for leading and managing the full-cycle recruitment function for the organization. This role serves as the primary driver of talent acquisition strategy, ensuring the company attracts, selects, and retains top talent across all departments. The Talent Acquisition Manager partners with department leaders and senior management to forecast hiring needs, develop sourcing strategies, and build a strong employer brand. In addition to recruitment, this position supports broader HR functions including onboarding, new employee orientation, employee relations, and HR compliance.

Work Schedule & Compensation

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Salary Range:

$80,000 – $95,00 per year, commensurate with experience.

Annual bonus program:

eligible for 10% of annual salary

Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

Lead and manage the full-cycle recruiting process including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, and pre-employment processes.

Develop and implement recruiting strategies to attract qualified candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, staffing agencies, and community partnerships.

Collaborate with department managers and senior leadership to define hiring needs, job requirements, and ideal candidate profiles.

Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future openings.

Attend and represent the company at job fairs, career events, college recruitment programs, and networking events.

Develop and track key recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, offer acceptance rate, and quality of hire.

Partner with staffing agencies and external recruiters when necessary; manage vendor relationships and contracts.

Onboarding & Orientation

Oversee the onboarding process for all new hires to ensure a consistent and positive experience.

Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation, including benefits enrollment, policy review, and introductions to company culture.

Partner with IT, payroll, and department managers to ensure new hires are fully set up on day one.

Continuously evaluate and improve the onboarding program based on new hire feedback and retention data.

Employer Branding & Candidate Experience

Develop and promote the company's employer brand across social media platforms, LinkedIn, and job boards such as Indeed and Glassdoor.

Ensure positive and professional candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.

HR Support Role

Consult with line management and provide HR guidance on employee relations matters, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.

Manage and resolve employee relations issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigation processes.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws to reduce legal risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and HR records in accordance with company policy and legal retention requirements.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute creative sourcing strategies.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations, and best practices related to hiring and HR compliance.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Education & Experience

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition and/or human resources

Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle recruitment across multiple departments and job functions.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
