HR Coordinator
Sennos, Durham, NC, United States
Sennos is rapidly emerging as the global leader in AI-driven sensing, analytics, and control for the Fluid, Fermentation, and Bio‑manufacturing industries. With a revolutionary integration of hardware, software, and real‑time multi‑parametric data, we have quietly built the world’s most advanced sensing system and largest AI‑powered fermentation data warehouse. By owning the entire stack—from sensing hardware to data infrastructure—we have delivered a breakthrough solution that reveals complex biological and chemical interactions, predicts precision outcomes, and enables next‑generation production control.
Sennos is a rapidly growing start‑up looking for someone who can quickly adapt to a changing environment and who has the desire to grow with us!
Position Summary
Sennos is a fast‑moving startup of 65 people and counting, and we’re looking for an HR Coordinator to help us build the people infrastructure that keeps our team running and growing. Reporting directly to the VP of Human Resources, you’ll be a hands‑on contributor across recruiting, benefits, onboarding, and day‑to‑day HR operations. This is a hybrid role and an ideal fit for a self‑starter who thrives in a generalist environment, enjoys building things from the ground up, and knows how to leverage AI tools to work smarter and move faster.
Responsibilities
Coordinate candidate interviews end‑to‑end, including scheduling with hiring managers, panelists, and candidates across time zones
Arrange candidate travel — flights, hotels, and logistics — ensuring a smooth and professional candidate experience
Maintain recruiting pipelines and track candidate status in Rippling ATS
Draft and post job descriptions and assist with sourcing efforts as needed
Help design and build the new hire onboarding program, including materials, checklists, and coordination with cross‑functional stakeholders
Own the logistics of Day 1 onboarding for new hires — equipment, system access, and a warm welcome
Support day‑to‑day benefits administration, including responding to employee questions and coordinating with brokers and vendors
Maintain accurate employee records and manage HR data in Rippling (HRIS), including onboarding/offboarding workflows, document management, and reporting
Serve as a friendly first point of contact for employee questions on HR policies, benefits, and processes
Assist the VP of HR with building and documenting HR processes, policies, and playbooks as we scale
Support planning and coordination of team‑building events, offsites, and company celebrations
Support internal communications by helping draft and distribute company‑wide messaging, Slack announcements, and other employee updates that keep the team aligned with Sennos' strategic priorities.
Provide administrative support that occasionally overlaps with the Office Manager, including vendor coordination and other operational tasks
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent work experience
Experience:
1‑3 years of experience in an HR, recruiting coordination, or people operations role
Hands‑on experience with Rippling (HRIS and ATS) strongly preferred
Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities without dropping the ball
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with candidates, employees, and vendors alike
A true self‑starter who identifies what needs to be done, takes ownership, and follows through without waiting to be directed
Demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to increase speed and quality of everyday work — drafting communications, summarizing information, building templates, and more
Service‑oriented mindset — you genuinely enjoy helping people and solving problems
High attention to detail and commitment to handling sensitive employee information with discretion
Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by the opportunity to build rather than just maintain
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) and/or Microsoft 365
Certifications/Licenses:
No specific certifications required; PHR, aPHR, or SHRM‑CP a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience at a startup or high‑growth tech company
Familiarity with additional ATS platforms (Greenhouse, Lever, or similar)
Exposure to benefits open enrollment or leave administration
Interest in developing a long‑term HR generalist or HR business partner career path
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk/computer workstation
Occasional light lifting (up to 15 pounds) for office supply management
Hybrid work environment — combination of in‑office and remote work
Standard office setting when on‑site; collaborative team culture
Minimal travel expected
