Position Summary
This position will support IDMS database platform as both IDMS application DBA and IDMS system DBA on z/OS.

What you’ll do

Implement structural changes through environments, access method analysis, application consulting

Build automation to improve legacy processes

Process Database Support Requests and Change requests in production and non-production environments

Build and implement database backup and recovery strategies

Prepare disaster recovery (DR) documentation and participate in DR activities

Handle data refresh activities from one environment to other lower environments as part of periodic data refresh requests

Support day to day monitoring and maintenance activities for IDMS on z/OS

Handle IDMS CARS upgrades

Respond to Audit requests and provide necessary documentation

24/7 on-call support rotation.

Required Qualifications

2+ years of knowledge of IDMS Database logical and physical structures such as areas, files, segments, DMCLs, DB Name tables, and the relationships between them

2+ years knowledge of Schema, Subschema, and physical database DDL compilers both in batch and online

2+ years knowledge of physical database file and in‑memory data structures related to IDMS databases

2+ years knowledge of the Integrated Data Dictionary (IDD), its use to manage logical and physical IDMS database objects and the DDDL online and batch compilers

Solid understanding of IDMS program development, the compilation process and use of the IDMS runtime environment under both local mode and central version

Solid understanding of database access techniques and navigation with an emphasis on locking, concurrency and impacts to large multi‑system/multi‑threading/multi‑tasking environments in a 24x7x365 setting

2+ years knowledge of IDMS tools, utilities and reporting facilities such as but not limited to: page expand, reorg, maintain index, restructure, IDMSDBAN, IDMSLOOK, IDMSRPTS, PRINT SPACE, PRINT PAGE, etc.

Solid knowledge of problem identification and mitigation techniques across a variety of scenarios and situations involving IDMS

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of COBOL language and syntax, program structure, data storage mechanisms, inter/intra program calling techniques and typical coding patterns used in large complex systems

Knowledge and use of DB‑Synchro would be helpful

Knowledge of Assembler programming language, coding constructs, storage mechanisms, macros (system and in particular IDMS) and DB Procs would be helpful

Knowledge and experience with ADS/O, ADSA and mapping facility would be helpful

Knowledge of CULPRIT and in particular its use to extract IDD content would be helpful

Experience with traversing the Broadcom website to review current documentation, research issues and communicate with the vendor in resolving issues and problems that arise

Education

High School diploma or equivalency

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is: $79,310.00 – $158,620.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
