What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. You will work with the Engineering Division and the Modern Manufacturing Methodologies Group, a world‑leading team in modern manufacturing techniques, risk analysis/management, and systems engineering. In this position, you will be a part of a cross‑disciplinary collaboration working on a groundbreaking R&D project to create solutions to complex problems. You will enhance current capabilities for artificial intelligence (AI) analysis through the validation of model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) models.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements
An understanding of CAD modeling to support the creation of visual language models (VLMs) that will make corrective suggestions to designers
Demonstrated skills in a software/programming language either in support AI or MBSE tools
The ability to work and communicate effectively in a diverse team environment
Self‑motivated and independent researcher who has demonstrated experience as part of an interdisciplinary team
Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
Education / Experience
Doctoral Degree in Industrial Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field of engineering, math, or physics.
Desired Qualifications
A record of achievement through reports, publications, intellectual property, and/or technical products
Publications in refereed journals and a history of successful research in collaborative team environments
Experience developing AI applications
Familiarity with big datasets and working knowledge of model‑based systems engineering tools
Work Location
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Additional Requirements
Candidates will need to pass a new‑employment drug test and comply with the Laboratory’s substance abuse policy, which includes random drug testing. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer.
