Location Description
Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets.

Responsibilities
Job Summary:

The Maintenance Internship position is meant to be a learning position within the maintenance department. In this position, it is the expectation of Michael Foods that the employee follows a learning plan and put their training to practice utilizing MFI’s PM standards and processes. This employee should also maintain good working attendance and behavioral standards per MFI’s employee handbook. This position should also provide a pipeline of future talent for Michael Foods.

Job Activities:

Assist with maintenance plan execution and maintenance equipment uptime improvements.

Major responsibilities include:

Adherence to Safety and Environment policy

Compliance to Quality and Food Safety requirements

Maintaining clean tools and work areas

Actively engage in equipment maintenance, trouble shooting, and collaborate with operations team on equipment issues

Cleaning

Painting

Preventative maintenance

Proactive maintenance

Reactive maintenance

Improvements

Root cause analysis

Tracking, monitoring and entering work hours in CMMS

Correct tracking and management of parts usage through CMMS

Diagnose and repair mechanical power transmission equipment: Gear boxes, mechanical drives, variable speed applications, and Servo motors

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems: Cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration and lubrication devices

Basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting

Welding, sanitary welding, pipe fitting, soldering, rigging application and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools, and machine shop machining within tolerance using measuring equipment such as Vernier, calipers, and depth gauges

Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Understand basic maintenance principles

Basic understanding of plant performance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement

Excellent verbal and oral communication skills

Eager to learn and challenge yourself; detail oriented, reliable and strong initiative

Microsoft Office user capabilities and any CMMS experience is a plus

Must be greater than 18 years of age
