Education, Training and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum age 21.
Experience in dispatch, call center, alarm monitoring or SOC preferred.
Firearms training preferably through law enforcement, security officer, corrections or military.
Knowledge of AMAG Access control and Milestone Video Management systems preferred.
Knowledge of NERC procedural requirements preferred.
Experience making independent use of force level decisions in real life situations.
Typing speed minimum 30 words per minute.
SOC Specialist I (Armed) Responsibilities & Requirements
Demonstrate mental alertness, good judgement, and reliable communication skills.
Operate PACS, VMS, EIS, incident reporting software, telephone system, and statewide radio within 8 weeks of hire.
Control access to facilities using PACS, cameras, and intercom systems.
Follow district, federal (NERC), state, and local security requirements.
Monitor, respond to, and document alarms (fire, intrusion, robbery, panic).
Ensure all cameras, PACS, intercoms, motion detectors, and computers function properly.
Operate statewide radio and long‑range walkie‑talkies to communicate with employees and emergency personnel.
Maintain accountability lists for guests and employees during emergencies.
Assist in training and evaluating new operators.
Maintain safe firearms handling practices; complete required firearms and less‑than‑lethal training.
Respond immediately to emergencies and use force appropriately.
SOC Specialist II (Armed) Responsibilities & Requirements
All Level I duties must be performed.
Minimum 2 years SOC experience required.
Independent, calm judgment in emergencies; act as on‑site lead if supervision is unavailable.
Develop and deliver training materials for new specialists.
May serve as a temporary “Quarterback” leader for issue escalation and projects per management instruction.
SOC Specialist III (Armed) Responsibilities & Requirements
All Level I and II duties must be performed.
Minimum 5 years SOC experience required.
Monitor and mentor other SOC Specialists, ensuring quality customer service and technical direction.
Provide performance input to supervisors and drive consistency across policies and procedures.
Conduct call and alarm audits; coach staff to meet standards.
Assist in scheduling SOC Specialist shifts and fill unfilled shifts as needed.
Respond to threatening or armed persons, using minimal force until law enforcement arrives.
Maintain and demonstrate proficiency in all systems and firearms policy.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Driver’s License.
Legal eligibility to carry a concealed weapon in Nebraska (CCW, LEO, Retired LEO).
