Job Summary
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for performing and supervising plant maintenance of rendering process equipment, ensuring equipment and buildings remain sanitary and in good repair while reporting directly to the Plant Manager. Shift: 5 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Tuesday–Saturday.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
Changes electrical breakers and starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters.
Follows a preventative maintenance schedule on all plant equipment.
Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities.
Trains Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance personnel.
Ensures all company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed, in accordance with OSHA.
Maintains cleanliness of equipment and conducts safety inspections.
Manages daily inventory of supplies and parts, ordering replacements promptly.
Attends scheduled safety meetings and may serve on the Safety Committee.
Performs any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting, or a combination of supervisory and plant personnel experience.
Proficiency in basic welding and fabrication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance of industrial equipment, with or without vocational training.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures.
Prior rendering experience.
Advanced welding experience or skills.
Vocational school training.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Excellent problem‑solving skills.
Team player who works well with others.
Detail oriented and well organized.
Strong math skills.

Electrical hazards and the use of potentially dangerous equipment are common. Regular travel to offsite locations may be required. The job requires a stationary presence, walking, using hands to handle or feel, and occasional climbing or balancing on ladders. The position may involve lifting up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to see clearly at both close and distance ranges, with no special color or depth perception needs.
