Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT) – Itinerate, 3 positions
Position Type: Aide / Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT)
Location: PreK Brooke High School
The Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher or Kindergarten Aide supports the instructional program by performing tasks assigned by the regular classroom teacher.
Length of Employment:
200 days
Salary:
In accordance with the Brooke County Service Personnel Salary Schedule.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Brooke County Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Service Personnel.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED/TASC.
"Aide" classification.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must agree to complete a Temporary or Permanent Authorization endorsed for Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher.
Responsibilities
Provide individual or small group instruction under the supervision of the teacher.
Provide students with individualized attention.
Assist in the formative assessment process and document student progress.
Set up and operate equipment for instruction.
Assist with preparing materials for instruction.
Assist the teacher and/or supervise arrival, dismissal, lunch and recess duties (including unloading/loading students from buses, serving/recording meal participation, set‑up/clean‑up, and transitions to/from classroom/restroom and/or outside activities).
Provide assistance to students during fine arts instruction and or other activities outside of the homeroom classroom.
Assist with the preparation of snacks for students as needed.
Assist with lifting, feeding, toileting and changing clothes of special needs students assigned to the regular classroom.
Assist and supervise special needs students in the regular classroom setting.
Assist in maintaining an inventory of classroom materials and supplies.
Assist in modifying materials and instructional activities for special needs students in the regular classroom.
Practice good safety habits.
Perform clerical duties such as filing, organizing, and documenting for classroom purposes.
Be aware of medications administered to students.
Maintain confidentiality of students' records.
Assist with transportation needs, if needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by kindergarten teacher and/or administrator.
Work Habits
Maintain work habits that facilitate a positive work environment.
Display knowledge within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Maintain, complete and submit required reports in a timely fashion.
Maintain and/or upgrade skills within area(s) of responsibility.

Additional Information
Classifications range from Aide I to Aide IV, with each level requiring specific education and training requirements. Salary is based on experience and education level per the CBOE salary schedule, plus competitive benefits (~35% of direct compensation).
