Staff Accountant Position

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for reconciling bank statements, posting journal entries, cash forecasting, and supporting the month-end close process. This role will also assist with construction draws, manage portfolio check runs, and provide financial support to both the Operating and Renovation teams across the ULco portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Manage deposits and complete bank statement reconciliations
Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
Support month-end close by preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements
Assist and eventually manage the check run process
Assist with the construction draw process
Maintain vendor compliance for W-9s and Certificates of Insurance
Contribute to developing and reviewing annual operating budgets and performance projections
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Meet required weekly and monthly reporting deadlines
Respond to information requests and assist with external audits
Provide cross-departmental support as needed
Job Requirements
Strong ability to multi-task with exceptional organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
Self-starter with strong initiative and ownership mentality
Effective time management skills and the ability to follow directions
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to learn and adapt to various accounting software systems
Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment with shifting priorities
Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when deadlines require
Reporting Structure
This position has no direct reports. Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
At least two years of professional accounting or finance experience preferred
Experience in property management or real estate accounting strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
