Overview
The Livestock Operations Manager will manage the livestock-related physical, human, and natural resources of the farm/ranch units of Northern Agricultural Research Center in support of the research and educational programs of the center and the Department of Research Centers. The individual in this position reports to the Superintendent atNARCand will be expected to work effectively with the Farm Operations Manager along with the Superintendent but will mainly work independently. The incumbent will work with and across a wide range of employees and needs to work well with faculty, and all employees atNARCwith exemplary leadership, planning and communication skills.

Qualifications

MS degree in agriculture, or BS (animal or range science, or related degree) with 2 years of livestock management.

Experience supervising personnel.

Demonstrated skills in personnel and budget management.

Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral University and research protocols.

Demonstrated competence in communication skills (individual and in groups) both written and oral.

Experience in livestock management and feedlot operations. Recognized ability to handle livestock with Low Stress handling techniques.

Experience in and understanding effective horsemanship around livestock.

Must possess or be able to obtain a Government and Research Pesticide applicators license, within 6 months of hire.

Understanding of experimental design and statistics.
