We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled
Structural Substation Engineer
to join our team at K&A Engineering in

Lead and support structural design efforts for high - voltage electrical substations (typically 12kV – 500kV).
Perform structural steel design, including bus support structures, equipment stands, platforms, and connection details.
Develop concrete foundation designs for transformers, breakers, control buildings, steel structures, and other substation components.
Conduct structural analysis using industry‑standard software and methodologies.
Prepare and review detailed design documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Collaborate with electrical, civil, and project management teams to ensure design compliance, constructability, and project timelines.
Support site evaluations, structural assessments, and modification recommendations for existing substations.
Maintain adherence to applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASCE, ACI, AISC, NESC, IEEE).
Provide technical guidance and mentorship when applicable.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred but not required).
5+ years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on substation design.
Demonstrated experience with:
Structural steel design
Concrete/foundation design
Analysis software (e.g., PLS-CADD/POLE, STAAD, SAP2000, RISA, or similar)
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC).
Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license—California preferred (or ability to obtain via comity).
Experience interacting with utility clients or EPC partners.
Familiarity with seismic design requirements in California.
Experience developing construction packages and IFC drawings.
Prior involvement in renewable energy or grid modernization projects.
Pay Range $120,000-150,000/year
