Position Overview
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting surgeons and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, ensuring the availability and sterility of surgical instruments, and providing direct patient care. This is a 36‑hour per week position consisting of four 8‑hour shifts and one 4‑hour shift.

Location and Hours
Austin, TX; 36 hours per week.

Salary
$26.50 per hour, plus additional compensation based on qualifications.

Responsibilities

Prepares the operating room, sets up instruments and equipment, and ensures sterility.

Assists surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining a sterile field.

Provides direct patient care: positions, drapes, monitors vital signs during surgery, and assists with post‑operative care.

Maintains infection control protocols, sterilizes instruments and equipment after use, and ensures regulatory compliance.

Documents surgical procedures, records, and reports concerns to the Operating Room Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

At least one year of experience in surgical technology.

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.

Two years of experience in an ambulatory surgery center or similar setting.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Working Environment

Standard office equipment and repetitive keyboard use.

Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, radiation, hazardous medications, and other workplace hazards.
