Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the nursing process and other input from healthcare team members.
The staff RN must be able to travel to another UCLA facility to assist with coverage when needed. Performs clinical nursing duties that include but are not limited to assisting physicians in performing procedures in the endoscopy area, GI lab, administering medications, monitoring vital signs and medications, and providing health education, procedure instruction, and information to patients and families.
Responsible for the all‑around healthcare needs of patients who are under the care management of the faculty members on an as‑needed basis. Acts as liaison between the MDs, the patients (including the family and staff members), schedulers, clinic staff and UCLA and non‑UCLA physicians involved with the patients’ healthcare. Provides up‑to‑date patient status reporting to the physicians and nurse supervisor by presenting laboratory or procedural results either in written or verbal form as well as conveying information from patients.
Job Qualifications
BSN or MSN
BCLS and ACLS from the ARC or AHA
Ability to travel between the endoscopy area/GI lab when necessary
Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of care specific to endoscopy area/GI Laboratory
Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and ability to identify dysrhythmias
Preferred:
Conscious Sedation Experience
As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct, or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
