Electrical Design Engineer
to join our team of innovators, problem solvers, and trusted industry experts.

Responsibilities
Design : Prepare, analyze, and check engineering drawings, specifications and system data to determine design factors on specific projects requiring protection related equipment including, but not limited to, protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, motor operators, substation control house equipment, protection related communications equipment, protection related automation equipment, protection related cybersecurity equipment, and general electrical miscellaneous equipment.
Support & Collaborate : Diagnose and troubleshoot protection related systems to support operational modifications, repairs, or enhancements. Maintain relationships with external contractors, consultants and member cooperative personnel to coordinate job related activities.
Plan & Analyze : Plan and develop enhancements to specific protection and control systems. Assist in project management by performing detailed engineering and economic studies, reviewing of contract specifications and estimating labor, materials and construction costs of projects. Analyze Cooperative material inventory and prepare purchase order requisitions when required.

What We’re Looking For
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Prefer knowledge of three-phase power systems and experience in one or more of the following subjects, with training to be provided in other areas:
Ground Grid studies
Arc Flash studies and rating categories
Developing or modifying specifications for substation equipment
Developing standards for P&C designs and relay panels
Familiar with protective relay functionality such as time-overcurrent, step distance, and line differential
Familiar with protective relay communications schemes using power line carrier systems
Modification and checking of protection and control (P&C) schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD or Microstation
