Job Summary
As a Spacecraft RF Payload Engineer, you will design and develop state‑of‑the‑art, space‑based RF payloads for our customers. This includes communication systems to link our satellites to each other and to ground stations as well as perform critical missions on‑orbit. You will need to work in a team‑based environment to tackle the unique challenges of developing flexible RF subsystems for small spacecraft on demanding timelines.
Position Responsibilities
Perform space vehicle mission trade studies related to communications links
Identify and define communications system requirements
Identify appropriate communications technologies to meet requirements
Develop communications technologies from concept to flight readiness
Create communications subsystem manufacturing, integration and verification documents
Perform communication subsystem manufacturing, integration and verification
Operate communications systems on orbit
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering
Experience or understanding of link‑budget calculation including atmospheric and environmental effects
Experience or understanding of antenna design and analysis including sizing, patterns, gains, and usage
Strong bias for getting things done with collaboration but minimal regimentation in a new emerging aerospace environment
Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required; final U.S. clearance post‑start required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing, implementing and testing algorithms for software‑defined radios
Experience or understanding of antenna pointing allocations, support gimbal design, and power amplifier selection
Experience with legacy and emerging satellite communications modulation and coding
Experience designing, implementing and testing antennas
Experience designing, implementing and testing radios from piece‑parts level
Experience with optical communications links
Experience with CCSDS standards
Master's Degree or higher
Current SSBI or TS/SCI clearance

Level 1: $79,050 - $116,250
Level 2: $98,600 - $145,000
Security Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. An interim and final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start is required.
Work Location and Shift
Position is located at a facility requiring special access. This is a 1st shift position.
