Distinctive Remodeling is known for exceptional design, trustworthy craftsmanship, and a remodeling experience that's organized and professional. We're building our next chapter and looking for a Construction Estimator who understands remodeling work in the real world -- not just on paper.
This role is ideal for someone with strong residential remodeling estimating experience who knows how to assess scope accurately, anticipate project needs, and help set jobs up for success before production begins. If you understand the complexities of remodeling existing homes, can build reliable estimates, and know how to balance cost, quality, and client expectations, this role offers meaningful ownership and impact.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate estimates for residential remodeling projects based on labor, materials, equipment, and time requirements
Perform takeoffs from digital plans, physical drawings, and site visits, ensuring all remodeling details are captured
Build detailed scopes of work that reflect the realities of renovation and remodel projects
Identify value engineering and cost‑saving opportunities without compromising craftsmanship or project quality
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and appropriate material selections
Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, assumptions, and supporting documentation
Work closely with project managers, designers, and the production team to align scope, pricing, and feasibility
Help identify potential scope gaps, site challenges, or hidden conditions early in the estimating process
Stay current on remodeling methods, material pricing, and market trends to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications

Strong experience in estimating residential remodeling or renovation projects
Solid understanding of remodeling sequencing, scope development, and the challenges of working within existing homes
Ideally, 10+ years of remodeling/construction experience, including hands‑on carpentry or building knowledge and project management exposure
At minimum, 5+ years of estimating experience preferred; 3+ years may be considered if directly tied to remodeling or residential contracting
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and remodel plans
Strong understanding of remodeling materials, methods, and practical field execution
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills
Strong computer proficiency and comfort with estimating software and digital tools
High attention to detail and strong documentation habits
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across design, production, and field teams
