Job Description
As an important member of the Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging Physics and Algorithm team, the Research Scientist will develop innovative physics-based solutions/corrections and support medical imaging platform needs by leading image quality improvements in Computed Tomography (CT).

Your role:

Uses a system-level engineering approach to develop new medical imaging systems features, optimizing image quality through algorithm design, calibration improvements, and image reconstruction enhancements with a strong emphasis on imaging performance. Drives the successful introduction of new products by creating technical specifications and improving data correction processes.

Investigates image quality issues during new feature launches and within the installed product base, identifying root causes and communicating findings to stakeholders. Develops and documents safe, effective solutions to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.

Contributes to the enhancement and maintenance of R&D tools for data simulation and image formation, supporting innovation in Computed Tomography Physics and imaging workflows. Establishes processing benchmarks, defines dataflow requirements, and documents software requirements to support product development.

Maintains deep expertise in CT physics processing algorithms, evaluating the downstream impact of changes across the entire image processing chain. Ensures cross-functional alignment when modifications in one processing area affect other components of the imaging pipeline.

Drives innovation by developing and owning the CT Imaging Platform physics roadmap, aligning emerging technologies with business strategy. Stays current on software advancements, theoretical concepts, and clinical imaging applications to shape future processing capabilities and continuous improvement initiatives.

You're the right fit if:

A minimum of 3 years of combined professional and graduate-level research experience in Physics or Medical Imaging, with experience in Computed Tomography and/or X-ray imaging preferred. Advanced academic preparation in physics, engineering, or related technical disciplines is highly desired.

Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field preferred, with strong knowledge of medical image formation and reconstruction theory. Ability to apply advanced theoretical concepts to practical imaging applications and next-generation technology development.

Proficiency in image and signal processing within the MATLAB environment, including GUI development and C-MEX functionality, with programming experience in Python and C++ preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and optimize technical solutions in research and product development settings.

Strong expertise in CT physics processing algorithms and image quality analysis, with the ability to evaluate the impact of changes across the full imaging chain. Skilled in identifying dependencies between processing stages to ensure optimal imaging performance and system integration.

Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow preferred, with the ability to apply advanced computational methods to imaging challenges. Knowledge of modern AI/ML techniques in support of innovation and product advancement is a plus.

The pay range for this position in Orange, OH is $114,750 to $183,600.
