Do you love movies? Are you intrigued about how “The Boys” is streamed to a computer and recreated on the screen? Are you excited about building products for hundreds of millions of customers? The Web Players team owns the Prime Video players on web browsers, embedded web views, and the Chromecast receiver app. We build everything from the player UI down to integrating with browser media APIs. The team is passionate about building an accessible player and has enabled features such as Next Up, in-playback broadcast switching, and playback on the Amazon.com home page. For sports enthusiasts we support live game experiences such as Thursday Night Football and UEFA Champions League, obsessing over high‑quality zero interruption streams.

Key job responsibilities

Background in TypeScript and JavaScript

Experience with HTML5 video player development, Widevine and PlayReady DRM technologies

Experience with different video delivery methods (DASH, HLS, etc.)

Optimizing player performance

Collaborating with other teams to resolve issues and facilitate playback integration

Ability to multi‑task, adapt quickly, learn new systems, create reliable & maintainable code, and find creative, scalable solutions to difficult problems

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral forms

Self‑starter attitude with strong teamwork, hustle, and communication skills

Every day we are innovating to enhance our customer experience, working closely with Product management to develop and improve the Web Player experience, build SDKs to support player features such as accessibility, and integrate and analyze video playback analytics solutions to continually optimize performance.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience

2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is 143,700.00 – 194,400.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
