Alliant is seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Specialist to join our team in Greer, SC.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Perform daily construction safety oversight visits, inspections, and audits across a variety of construction environments.

Investigate and assess health and safety-related complaints, workplace accidents, hazardous material incidents, and other potential risks.

Identify and mitigate physical, biological, and chemical hazards in alignment with regulatory standards and client expectations.

Evaluate equipment, materials, and operational processes to ensure safe practices for employees, site visitors, and the general public.

Monitor subcontractor compliance with site-specific health and safety programs and provide improvement recommendations.

Collaborate with all organizational levels and regulatory authorities to ensure effective safety protocols.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, interviews, observations, and follow-up activities.

Deliver impactful safety training and guidance to subcontractors and stakeholders to foster a strong safety culture.

Design and implement proactive frameworks to reduce incidents and continuously improve safety outcomes.

Validate the safety and functionality of tools and equipment used on-site.

Review and approve subcontractor safety plans, including those related to crane lifts, excavations, confined spaces, blasting, and more.

Conduct emergency preparedness drills and lead training sessions on emergency response procedures.

Support contract vetting by working with procurement, security, and third-party services (e.g., ISNetworld) to ensure contractor safety standards.

Lead weekly safety meetings and coordinate with professionals across construction, security, and general industry safety domains.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Proven ability to coach personnel effectively on safe work practices during site visits.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction safety, with a strong background in hoisting and rigging, electrical safety, and trenching/excavation.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and project teams.

Strong knowledge of applicable safety standards (ANSI, ASTM) and federal/state OSHA regulations.

Exceptional organization and documentation skills; able to maintain accurate records of all safety activities.

Comfortable working at heights using ladders or scaffolding.

Self-motivated, dependable team player with a proactive mindset and strong work ethic.

OSHA 510 certification (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) is required.

Flexibility to work varied hours, including during seasonal shutdowns, based on project demands.

Preferred Qualifications (not required but favorable)

Completion of any of the following OSHA courses:

OSHA 2055: Cranes in Construction

OSHA 7215: Silica in Construction, Maritime, and General Industries

OSHA 7405: Fall Hazard Awareness in Construction

OSHA 7415: OSHA Construction Industry Requirements (Major Hazards and Prevention)

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other documentation tools.

Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and support teams while fostering a culture of safety and compliance.

Education/Experience Required

Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in construction safety.

Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred (equivalent specialized training may be considered).

CSP certification or eligibility to sit for the CSP exam preferred.
