Undergraduate Turbulence Intern

What You Will Do

The Los Alamos National Laboratory Michigan SPARC seeks an outstanding undergraduate to participate in turbulence research. Successful candidates will join one of our active research teams for a summer (typically 10 weeks) working with staff, postdocs, and graduate students. Topics include turbulent mixing, combustion, and hybrid models.
What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience or course work in computational fluid dynamics
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Enrollment in a fluids relevant Bachelor’s degree program (e.g. Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Applied Math)
Education/Experience :
Undergraduate
Currently enrolled (12 semester credit hours or full-time equivalent) in an accredited undergraduate degree-granting program (or international equivalent)
Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Entering first-year students must provide documentation indicating matriculation into an accredited undergraduate degree program.
Desired Qualifications:
Course work in fluid mechanics
Experience with high performance computing
Experience programming in C++, Fortran, and/or Python
Work Location

The work location for this position will be onsite at the LANL Michigan SPARC, located on the campus of the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
