As a Home Health Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA), here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
Perform under the direction and supervision of the treating occupational therapist and in accordance with the plan of care.
Assist the treating occupational therapist in documenting a patient's progress and response to treatment.
Teach task-oriented therapeutic activities designed to restore physical and sensory-integrative function.
Communicate with the supervising occupational therapist, as well as other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team providing care to the patient in order to promote coordination of care.
Visually and aurally observe and assess the patient.
Participate in quality and performance improvement measures.
A few must-haves for Home Health Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTA):
Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in the start of Colorado.
Minimum of two (2) years of certified occupational therapy assistant experience, ideally in home healthcare
CPR/BLS Certification (demonstration course required)
Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations
Excellent clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and compassionate
