Occupational Therapist

About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist at BOCES, you will be responsible for the

evaluation, planning, and delivery of occupational therapy services

in accordance with a written prescription or referral from a physician providing medical direction. Services are provided within educational settings and tailored to meet the individual needs of students. You will receive supervision from a higher‑level administrator, with

considerable independence

in carrying out day‑to‑day responsibilities. While formal supervision is not a primary function of this role, you will provide

oversight and guidance

to Occupational Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapy Aides, and clerical staff assigned to the service.
This position offers variety, professional trust, and the opportunity to collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers across the region.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with medical referrals and educational goals.
Provide direct occupational therapy services to students.
Maintain appropriate documentation and progress reports.
Collaborate with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Provide instruction and oversight to support staff assigned to occupational therapy services.
Perform related duties as required.

What We’re Looking For

A licensed or license‑eligible Occupational Therapist (per NYS requirements).
Strong assessment, planning, and clinical decision‑making skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
Commitment to supporting students in educational environments.
Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Must have NYS Occupational Therapist license and have no lifting restrictions.
This is a competitive position. Must meet requirements of Ontario County Civil Service.
This position will be filled from an eligible list at Ontario County Civil Service.
