
Multi-Media Environmental Scientist Stennis Space Center, MS

Tetra Tech is seeking a full‑time Multi‑Media Environmental Scientist to support NASA Stennis Space Center operations, assisting with daily interactions with NASA personnel and on‑site support to Tetra Tech Environmental Managers for multi‑media environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct environmental due diligence for real property actions including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
Support the natural and cultural resources program, ensuring compliance with NEPA and related regulations.
Perform biological assessments and cultural resource evaluations to support project planning and regulatory compliance.
Develop and maintain documentation for natural and cultural resources management, including reports, permits, and compliance records.
Coordinate with project proponents to gather necessary information for environmental reviews and assessments, consulting with stakeholders and agencies.
Support habitat management initiatives, identifying and protecting threatened and endangered species and their habitats.
Collaborate with cultural resource specialists to ensure compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act.
Conduct surveys and field assessments to identify natural and cultural resources and assess potential impacts of proposed projects.
Provide training and outreach to staff and stakeholders on natural and cultural resource management practices and compliance requirements.
Participate in community of practice or working group meetings to facilitate discussions on natural and cultural resource management issues.
Stay informed of changes in regulations and best practices related to natural and cultural resources management and NEPA.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering, science, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in environmental compliance.
Knowledge of Mississippi environmental regulations.
Knowledge of NASA environmental guidelines, systems, and processes (preferred).
Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Detail‑oriented with strong documentation skills.
Other Requirements
This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen. A background check will be conducted for CAC card, CUI Enclave Access, or Security Clearance requirements.
Physical Demands
The role requires performing strenuous fieldwork under various site and weather conditions, including standing, crouching, sitting, and lifting/moving items weighing over 50 pounds. Vision abilities such as detail observation, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focusing are required.
Work Environment
Work may involve hot and cold conditions with potential exposure to natural hazards such as flooding, extreme heat, wildfires, and hurricanes.
Language & Communication Skills
English language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).
Technical writing experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting reports and projects.
Other Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products.
