
Teller Intern - Lamar High School

This internship is only available to Lamar High School students.
Job Summary
The Teller Intern position is responsible for delivering superior and efficient service to member owners who interact through our Lamar High School location. The intern serves as the face of the credit union and must have a general understanding of credit union processes, products and services. While the primary role is to process transactions, the intern also educates member owners about all available service channels.
Responsibilities
Greeting member owners and processing member transactions accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. Transactions include basic servicing of accounts, processing of deposits and withdrawals, accepting loan payments, cashing checks, etc.
Daily balancing of cash drawers and correcting any discrepancies found.
Performing other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
Under one year of similar or preparatory experience.
Education / Certifications / Licenses
No high school degree required.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Must have courtesy and tact; work involves personal contact with customers, giving and receiving information, and updating or referring. Communications are usually short and not in-depth.
Other Skills
Must have the ability to communicate courteously and professionally, basic math and computer skills; self‑driven and proactive in serving member owners.
ADA Requirements / Physical Requirements
Work is primarily sedentary with limited physical exertion. The intern may be required to lift a cash box of up to 10 lbs and coin bags up to 30 lbs occasionally. Must be able to climb/descend stairs in an emergency, operate routine office equipment (telephone, copier, facsimile, calculator), stand for long periods, use a computer for 6–8 hours per day, work extended hours as required, and maintain reliable attendance.
Working Conditions
The intern must routinely perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must perform job functions independently or with limited supervision, work effectively alone or as part of a team, follow written and oral instructions, speak clearly and deliver information logically, use basic math, spell accurately to high school level, and handle diverse personalities professionally. Must remain calm and composed under deadlines and maintain discretion on confidential matters.
