HOLIDAYS AS REQUIRED. EVERY OTHER WEEKEND.

Our Trauma Surgical Unit is primarily home to our acute care trauma and surgical patient population. Nurses in this area have a 1:6 ratio and specialize in an interdisciplinary team approach to each patient's specific needs.

This unit's staff are experts in trauma but also ortho and urology patients as this unit will provide care to this population as well. The unit values collaboration with family practice physicians, hospitalists, as well as a variety of surgical specialists while proudly providing individualized attention to all patients who are hospitalized for illness, surgery, or testing and observation.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to acute care trauma and surgical patients with a 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, including family practice physicians, hospitalists, and surgical specialists.

Deliver individualized care to patients hospitalized for illness, surgery, testing, and observation.

Float to other units and hospitals as required.

Adhere to scheduled 36 or 48 hour workweeks and alternate weekend requirements.

Qualifications

Associated degree in nursing (education required).

AHA BLS or RED CROSS certification (certification required).

Registered Nurse State of Alabama or Compact license; no temporary licenses accepted (license required).

2 years nursing experience (will consider 18 months) with at least 1 year of recent experience in trauma, orthopedics, or urology specialties (experience required).

Willingness to float to units/hospitals.

Working Conditions

In‑office position located in Tuscaloosa, AL.

36 or 48 hour workweeks.

Holidays as required; alternate weekend shifts.

Scrub color/dress code: solid navy.

EMR platform: Meditech.
