Midnights - 7:00 pm to 7:00 am (36 Hours)
LOCATION:
Sterling Heights (15 and Ryan) ER
The Henry Ford Health Sterling Heights Emergency Department is a 15‑bed free‑standing facility.
Our staff has a close working relationship. The physicians, nurses, and technicians are all centrally located for ease of collaboration and communication, which leads to a positive work environment.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist RNs and Providers with assessments, examinations, and treatments
Drawing blood and collection of specimens
EKG's
Splint/immobilizers applications
Taking vital signs on adults and pediatric patients
Inserting neuro‑gastric tubes
Urethral catheterization of adult patients
Discontinuance of peripheral IV's
Starting unmediated IV's
Prepare and assist Providers with procedures
Suturing – preps patients and prepares sterile trays
Application of casts
Miscellaneous procedures including pelvic exams, lumbar punctures
Assist patients as needed
Recognize potential of life‑threatening dysrhythmias and abnormal vital signs and report to RN/Provider
Adhere to hospital policy addressing standard precautions, safety regulations, and guidelines
Document patient care performed
Interact with patients and families as appropriate, ensuring excellent patient and customer experiences
Transport patients and supplies
Clean equipment, monitor stock, and restock equipment and supplies as required
Assist in ordering routine equipment; maintain adequate stretchers, wheelchairs, suction equipment, etc. in ER area
Maintain departmental cleanliness and prepare rooms between patients
EDUCATION REQUIRED
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Previous Emergency Dept Technician, MA or Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
BCLS certification required.
LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
One of four certifications required:
B-EMT
Graduate from a formal Medical Assistant program
Completion of a formal nursing education program to practice as an RN offshore
Completion of a formal medical doctor education program to practice as a medical doctor offshore
EMT license preferred
Successful completion of a 180‑day orientation period required
